Artisanal Vintage

Sunrise and sunset paint the sky with pink. Cool to warm. So is the progression from childhood to old age.

A touch of blush. Artisanal vintage is all the hype as the month of love comes to be. Throughout the cottage various shades of pink and new decor have been added complementing the blue + green implemented in January. Hoping to infuse the cottage with love this month, I absolutely love the feminine small details.

DESIGn INSPIRATION + Featured touches

Inspired by the living arrangements features in the Pottery Barn magazine, I found a touch of blush to be just the right hue to completely transform the cottage into a new living space.

Elements of glass and bright contrast but complementary colors completely added depth and vintage appeal to the space.

Considering the queen-sized bedroom, at the beginning of 2018, returned to black and cream decor; whereas, the full-sized bedroom was re-decorated in shades of orange, blue, green, red, and white. Now, I decided to change things up with the queen-sized bedroom. Rosy-pink has been implemented and incorporated in addition to the cream color and accents already present in the bedroom. This artisanal vintage mantra has been an inspiration as it has become an underlying color in the china closet, painting in the living room, and in the bedspread of the other bedroom.

LIVING ROOM + ENTRY

The living room + entry way gained new vibrant decor, coupled with vintage vibes. Mixing of metallics, silver and gold, along with adding touches of new beginnings as Utah has been experiencing record high temperatures.

Reminding me of an elegant tea party, the living room has come to life with flower accents whether it be in the banners above the windows or the floral painting above the couch - I was inspired to add these elements into as a new beginning and ready to jump into spring.

To ensure every guest has a comfortable stay at 3 Squares Cottage, I have provided a guest book with instructions + local accommodations regarding food, shopping, hiking, and site visits. A taste of Utah, for traditional + non-traditional guests who want to see what Utah has to offer.

The mascot dog, on the fireplace, is uniquely dressed throughout the months with ever changing necklaces, matching the theme of the month. February's necklace is linked below.

Shop: Lamps (behind couch), TJ Maxx; Rug, eSalerugs.com; Chairs, Marhsalls; Floral Banner + Fans (hanging in the large window), Zurchers; Alice in Wonderland Tea Party Set, Ebay; Betsy Johnson Necklace (pictured on dog), Ebay; and Floral Garland, Michaels.

DINING ROOm + Kitchen

Becoming a main gathering place for guests, the dining room and kitchen decor was updated and altered to provide variations of pink to the china closet, bench seating, and a new tablecloth extended the theme throughout the cottage. The kitchen had minimal changes, but exemplifies true Valentine's Day decor on the island and above the sink in the window.

My friend, Ben Behunin, is a talented potter and has created some very unique pieces in the cottage. Featured in the month of February, the faces on the walls of the kitchen and the heart with forks coming out of it symbolize the endless possibilities with love and loss.

The vintage pigs, featured in the kitchen are special to our family because they were Jack's parents. Adding green, featured as an accent color, in this location allows the color green to continue throughout the cottage and simply defines the space as a whole.

Shop: Bright Green Leaf Garland (above China Cupboard), Seasons by David; Floral and Black + White Stripe Plates, Bed Bath and Beyond - I purchased mine at TJ Maxx, Amazon, and Ebay; Bench Pillows, TJ Maxx; Hand Cream, Bath and Body Works; Pottery (faces and heart with forks, as pictured in the kitchen), Ben Behunin.

BEDROOMS + Hallway

Major color transformations appeared in the master bedroom (Queen) this month. Feminine touches including: tickled pink sheets, large floral-print pillows, and little specks of gold continue the antique appeal throughout the cottage. The desk, featured in this bedroom, was found at Garner Antiques in Bountiful, Utah and is available for purchase. Intrigued with our guests and their stories, I have provided a journal for each of them to record their experience at 3 Squares Cottage and the opportunity to share with all who stay at our humble abode.

This bedroom (Full), featuring repeating geometric patterns in red, pink, and green and focusing on deeper colors help define the space and add depth. We re-used the quilt and pillows from Christmas time, for the sake of economy and because it fit perfectly for this time of year.

Bathroom

Keeping it classic with the black and cream decor, but infusing pink love (even to the bathroom) has brightened up the bathroom. A simple way to apply color in any space is searching and discovering colored bottles of shampoo and conditioner. I found these pink bottles at TJ Maxx - an affordable way to change out toiletries every month.

Hoping you have felt inspiration and gained insight into how to add a touch of blush to your home; especially in the month of love. Honestly, I can't wait to see what this month has in store for 3 Squares Cottage, as we hope you will consider us as your next getaway destination.

Peace and love to your family from ours.
